Asemonea cuprea is a Webspinnenart from the family of the jumping spiders , it was in 2006 in Zambia discovered and described in 2009.

features

The body length of a male and a female is 3.2 millimeters each, which is roughly evenly divided between the prosoma (cephalothorax) and the opisthosoma . The males are characterized by light orange scales above the eye field and the bright orange hair on the anterior sides of the opisthosoma. The pedipalps have a long apophysis on the upper side of the tibia section and a characteristically angled subtegulum .

The females have a very simply built epigyne , which distinguishes them from other species of the genus.

distribution and habitat

With the exception of the site near the village of Choma in Zambia, there is no information about the distribution of the species . The animals were collected from the leaves of low bushes.

Taxonomy

Asemonea cuprea was first described by the Polish scientist Wanda Wesołowska , University of Breslau . It belongs to the jumping spider genus Asemonea and is probably related to the species Asemonea maculata from the Ivory Coast . Currently 14 species including A. cuprea are assigned to the genus , five of which were only described by Wesołowska in the last few years.
