Ash Brannon

Ash Brannon (born July 19, 1969 in Columbus , Georgia ) is an American animator , film director and screenwriter who has been nominated four times for an Annie Award .

Career

Brannon's film career began in 1989 as an animator on Walt Disney's 28th full-length cartoon Ariel, the Mermaid . In the 1995 film Toy Story , Pixar's first full-length animated film , he performed the same job. For Pixar, he also worked on their second full-length film Das große Krabbeln as well as on the second part of Toy Story . For the sequel, which was released in 1999, he co-wrote the script and was also responsible for the implementation of the film as co-director. He received two Annie Awards for his performance on this film. Then the collaboration with Pixar ended and he turned to the film Kings of the Waves produced by Sony Pictures Animations . Brannon wrote the script for this and was responsible with Chris Buck as director. For their participation, the two received an Oscar nomination at the 2008 Academy Awards in the category " Best Animated Film ". Brad Bird received the award for Pixar's Ratatouille . At the Annie Awards they also lost to the competition from Ratatouille .

Brannon's last film was an American-Chinese co-production with Huayi Brothers as the production company, which was released in 2016 under the title Rock Dog and which he is directing for the first time alone.

He also gave his voice to two characters, he can be heard as a filmmaker in Kings of the Waves and as Ian in Rock Dog .
