Ash Springs
Ash Springs is a village in Lincoln County in the US state of Nevada . It is located approximately 14.2 km north of the city of Alamo on US Highway 93 in the Pahranagat Valley , an oasis in the northern Mojave Desert . In 2007 it had 161 inhabitants.
Ash Springs is known for its warm water springs (Ash Spring Thermal System), which are located near the village in a meadow landscape of willow and poplar trees. There are six main springs with a temperature between 31.1 ° C and 36.1 ° C. The springs are the water reservoir for Ash Springs, but are also used by anglers and bathers alike.
One of the endemic fish taxa in the hot water springs is Crenichthys baileyi baileyi , the nominate form of the White River spring carp ( Crenichthys baileyi ), which has become rare due to the channeling of the spring zone and competition with imported carp and exotic fish.
Furthermore, there are prehistoric Indian rock carvings between Ash Springs and the neighboring town of Caliente , the so-called Ash Springs Rock Art Site .
