Ashleigh Cummings (born November 11, 1992 in Saudi Arabia ) is an Australian actress . Since participating in Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance , she has been involved with minor roles in Australian film and television productions. She became internationally known for the role of Robyn Mathers in the film Tomorrow, When the War Began , released in 2010 .

Life

Ashleigh Cummings was born in Saudi Arabia, where her parents worked and lived. When she was twelve the family moved to Sydney . Ashleigh has been taking ballet lessons since she was two years old . She continued her dance and drama training in Sydney and enrolled at the Brent Street School of Performing Arts when she was fourteen . For her school education, she attended Wenona School in North Sydney .

The first involvement in a film was in the 2007 mockumentary film Razzle Dazzl: A Journey into Dance as a ballet student of Ms. Elisabeth. Next came the role of Sal in the television movie Dream Life in 2008 . In the television series Home and Away , she played the role of Ali Edmonds in several episodes . In the feature film Green Fire Envy she took on the role of Ally Sheppard .

In the role of Robyn Mathers in the 2010 film Tomorrow, When the War Began , she received international attention and was nominated for the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Young Actor . She then appeared in the Sydney Theater Company's theater production Our Town .

In 2011 she took on the role of Britney in the TV series Rescue: Special Ops , the role of Gracie in Underbelly: Razor and the role of Trilby in Dance Academy - Dance Your Dream! . Since 2012, Cummings has played Dorothy "Dot" Williams in the TV series Miss Fisher's Mysterious Murders , the first episode of which aired on February 24, 2012. For this role she was nominated for the Logie Award for Most Popular Actress. Since August 15, 2012, the series Puberty Blues , in which Cummings plays the role of Debbie Vickers , broadcast, for whose portrayal she was again nominated for the Logie Award and the AACTA Award .
