Ashley John Callus (born March 10, 1979 in Brisbane , Queensland ) is an Australian swimmer who specializes in short freestyle distances. His trainer is Chris Urquhart.

Callus' biggest success was winning the gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney with the 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay. The Australian season, consisting of Michael Klim , Chris Fydler , Callus and Ian Thorpe , surprisingly won in a new world record time against the favored Americans .

Two years later at the World Short Course Championships in Moscow Callus achieved his greatest success in a single race when he took first place in the 100 m freestyle. He also won silver there with the 4 × 100 m individual relay. At the 2006 World Short Course Championships in Shanghai , he won gold in the 4 × 100 m individual relay.

At the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 , he won gold in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay and silver in the 100 m freestyle. In 2006 in Melbourne he won silver with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.
