Ashley Rae Phillips (born February 21, 1986 in Beverly , Massachusetts ) is a former American football player and current coach.

Career

Player

Before, during and after their studies at Clemson University played Phillips for the franchises of the Boston Renegades or Atlanta Silverbacks in the W-League . In 2009 she played for the WPSL participant Boston Aztec , before moving to the WPS in the same year for the Boston Breakers , for which she was active until 2011.

In April 2013 Phillips was hired as a so-called Discovery Player by the newly founded NWSL franchise of the Breakers, and she made her league debut on April 14, 2013 against Washington Spirit . In the first half of the season she was still the regular goalkeeper of the Breakers, but in the further course of the season she was usually preferred to Alyssa Naeher, who was subsequently signed up . At the end of the season Phillips' player contract in Boston was not renewed, instead she moved to the 2014 season as a goalkeeping coach in the coaching staff around Tom Durkin .

Phillips played for the US youth national teams in the age groups U-16, U-17, U-19, U-21 and U-23.

trainer

From 2010 to 2015, Phillips was Tracey Leone 's assistant coach on the women's soccer team at Northeastern University in Boston. From the 2014 season she also acted as co-trainer and goalkeeper for the Boston Breakers. In early 2016, she was appointed to the post of head coach for the Northeastern Huskies.
