Ashley Walters (born June 30, 1982 in London ), better known as Asher D , is a British rapper and actor .

Life

Ashley Walters attended the Sylvia Young Theater School from 1989 and received his basic musical and acting training there. Walters is married and has three children with his wife Natalie.

In the music industry Walters uses the pen name Asher D . He was a member of the So Solid Crew group , one of the first representatives of grime . He made large contributions to the single "21 Seconds", which was a number one hit in England. Due to a prison sentence , he had to break off his engagement in the group. From 2004 he released several solo albums as Asher D, Street Sibling (2004), Cure for Cancer Mixtape and In Memory of the Street Fighter (both 2006). In 2008 he released a studio album on the AD82 records label , The Appetiser , which he himself produced with Laurence Ezra.

Acting career

As early as 1997 he appeared in several episodes in the English television series Grange Hill . Other smaller television roles followed. He had his first major success as "Rick" in the movie Bullet Boy , directed by Saul Dibb . For his role in this drama he received the British Independent Film Award for best newcomer in 2004 . After a few films as a supporting actor, including Stormbreaker , he played one of the leading roles in Tuesday , an action thriller in 2008 . He also starred in the fourth season of the BBC series Hustle in 2007 .

Conviction for gun possession

During an argument with a civil patrol, Walters was found with a loaded air rifle whose unapproved ammunition would have been fatal. He was therefore sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2002, of which he already nine months in custody had served.
