Tuesday is the first studio album by the German band Reamonn . It was published on May 26, 2000 and was awarded a gold record in Germany for more than 150,000 records sold . All tracks were composed and written by the band. For the album and the single Supergirl , the band received the audience award 1Live Krone as best newcomer in 2000 .

Emergence

In the summer of 1999 Reamonn got a record deal with Virgin Records . The band from Stockach gathered for the recordings of the debut album with producer Steve Lyon in the Forge Studios, a former blacksmith's shop (hence the name: “forge” means “blacksmith” in English) in Oswestry, Shropshire, England . The album was mixed by Lyon with John Coles at the Matrix Studio in London . Before the release, the single Supergirl appears , which is played on MTV and VIVA and is a great success. The band then goes on tour in the opening act of the Guano Apes and with HIM .

Singles

1. Supergirl was the first single on the record and landed at number 4 in the German charts. The video was made from a short film for which Reamonn wrote the music. The actress Shirin Soraya played the main role.
2. Josephine was the second single and reached the highest ranking in Germany with place 35 (one week). In this video too, Soraya played the lead role. "Josephine" was released in a revised version on the compilation album Eleven .
3. Waiting There for You was the third single and reached number 80 in the German charts. In this video too, Soraya played the woman from the song.

Together, all three should make a kind of trilogy, which is also evident with regard to the same actress and since all songs contain about the same type of text.

reception

Stefan Friedrich judges at laut.de: "In addition, there are really nice melodies, some of which give the impression that you have known them for a lifetime, just can't remember where from."

Dean Carlson from Allmusic comes to a similar judgment: “Germany's Reamonn has an ironic ability to create gold albums full of songs that you feel you'll rack your brains trying to remember the minute they've stopped playing.” (The German Reamonn have the ironic ability to fill gold records with songs that trying to remember a minute after the song has ended leads to guesswork.)

At the Federal Association of the Music Industry a gold record was certified for Tuesday in 2000 for more than 150,000 records sold.
