Asleep. is a Swiss indie rock / alternative band from Zurich , which was founded in 1999. The band name contains a period in the spelling at the end. Not least to avoid confusion with other bands with the name Asleep from the USA and Norway .
history
The band was founded in 1999 by Fabio Andres, Marius Lapagna and Patrik Schmid. In 2002 Nicolas Sciarrone (formerly guitarist with the Zurich trip-hop band BSK ) joined the band as bassist. However, he switched to his main instrument guitar when Fabian Koller joined in 2005 as bassist. Fabian Koller left the band in autumn 2009 after the tour of the second album In The Village Though We Make Up Numers For Cities ... and Sascha Jösler has been the bassist in the group since the beginning of 2011.
The debut album The Good Things was the first release of the Swiss independent label kuenschtli.ch in 2005 . The band is primarily known in Switzerland, but has also been on tour in Austria and Cyprus . The Swiss house DJ DJ Antoine has the song Move by Asleep. Released as a remix on his compilation album Jealousy . In May and June 2007, the compilation took first place in the official compilation charts in Switzerland for seven weeks . There were also songs by Asleep. Covered by artists and bands like Acapulco Stage Divers , Evelinn Trouble and Ian Constable .
Stephan Walter has been responsible for the cover artwork for the band since the album The Good Things , and he also worked as an illustrator on the cover of the album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today by David Byrne and Brian Eno . Particular attention was paid to the design and packaging of the album In The Village Though We Make Up Numers For Cities ... , which attracted attention with a large A2 folding poster and was also sold at concerts and on the street at a price that the buyers themselves determine could.
The third studio album "Igloo" was released in February 2014.
