Assaf Gavron (born December 21, 1968 in Arad ) is an Israeli musician and author.

Life

Assaf Gavron grew up as a child of English immigrants near Jerusalem and stayed in London during his studies and then for ten years , and he also studied for a year in Vancouver . Today he lives with his family in Tel Aviv .

He has published several novels and short stories and is a bestselling author in Israel. He writes songs for the indie punk band Hape Ve Hatlafajim , in which he also sings. In 2007 Gavron contributed to the development of the video game PeaceMaker , which deals with the Middle East conflict and whose objective is the two-state solution . Gavron has u. a. Jonathan Safran Foer , Philip Roth and JD Salinger translated into Hebrew . He also writes for the Habimah Theater .

In 2010 he was a guest of the DAAD's Berlin artist program and was among the participants in the Berlin International Literature Festival . In 2012, his novel A beautiful assassination was presented in the campaign A book for the city in the greater Cologne area, the novel received the Prix ​​Courrier International from the magazine Courrier international in France . Gavron received an Israeli Prime Minister's Prize and the Geffen Prize in 2011. For his novel On Foreign Land , he was awarded the Bernstein Prize , the second most important literary prize in Israel.
