Assen Slatarov
Assen Christow Slatarow ( Bulgarian Асен Христов Златаров ; born February 4, 1885 in Chaskowo , † December 22, 1936 in Vienna ) was a Bulgarian chemist .
Life
Slatarow joined the Bulgarian Social Democratic Labor Party in 1906 . He studied chemistry in Geneva and specialized in food chemistry in 1909/1910 with a degree in Munich . From 1924 he worked as a professor at the University of Sofia .
Slatarow is considered to be the founder of biochemistry in Bulgaria. In his scientific work he dealt with the nutritional value , calorie content and the composition of foods . He also published articles in the Burgaski far newspaper, published in Burgas . The Assen-Slatarow University of Burgas is named after him.
In the television show Velikite Balgari , Assen Slatarow was voted 100th largest Bulgarian by Bulgarian television viewers in 2006.
