Astrid Vollenbruch

Astrid Vollenbruch (born July 20, 1964 in Aachen ) is a German author . Under the pseudonym Sophie Matuschka , she and another author wrote the novels for the films of the three ??? .

Life

She grew up in Meerbusch near Düsseldorf and studied English and Celtology in Bonn . She later retrained as a publishing clerk, but then worked mostly as a secretary . She now devotes herself exclusively to writing books. She lives in the Wittgensteiner Land.

The three ???

From 2005 to 2010 she wrote at irregular intervals for the youth book series Die Drei ??? ; Among her works is also the anniversary volume 150, Geisterbucht . She also translated the American novels House of Horrors by Megan and H. William Stine and High Strung by GH Stone , which were published in April 2011 in a Top Secret Edition of the three ??? published. For the two film adaptations The Secret of Ghost Island and The Cursed Castle , she wrote the novels for the film under the pseudonym Sophie Matuschka together with an author who did not want to publish her name. After she had already spoken several times of a "??? - break", she announced her official exit from the team of authors on April 22, 2012, officially because she was "heading in a different direction" and wanted to draw a line. In 2013 she announced that she had ended the collaboration with the publisher.

Unicorn magic / Under the spell of fog / Over the fog bridge

She also wrote her own fantasy series Unicorn Magic , which is aimed primarily at horse lovers . On March 15, 2012, she announced that the series should be continued, but would no longer appear as before in Kosmos-Verlag . In November 2012 she added that she did not currently have a new publisher to continue it and did not know whether she could call the series Unicorn Magic in the future . At the same time, Kosmos-Verlag had reissued the previous books as a trilogy under the name Im Bann des Nebels .

In February 2013 she announced that she would publish the books in future under the title Über die Nebelbrücke and change the title of the first book, since the rights for unicorn magic are held by Kosmos-Verlag. Currently (December 2014) only the volumes of Im Bann des Nebels and the fourth Unicorn Magic book are available in stores. In December 2014, it published the fifth and sixth story about the Nebelbrücke at Amazon as an e-book in the self-published after she had received the rights of the cosmos. The seventh story Seelendieb was also self-published in January 2015 as an e-book and printed book. Volumes 8 and 9 have already been announced.

Raven time

Since 2014 Vollenbruch has been publishing a book series called Rabenzeit . The story is an "epic, adult high fantasy " and takes place in the same world as Across the Fog Bridge , but with different characters. Vollenbruch emphasizes that this book is “definitely NOT a book for young people”. The more than 5,000 pages are to be published successively in eight parts and an appendix on Amazon as an e-book.
