The magazine at-Tabib ( Arabic : الطبيب; DMG : aṭ-Ṭabīb ; German : "the doctor") was published in 1884 and 1885 by the Lebanese linguist and journalist Ibrāhīm al-Yāziǧī (1847-1906) together with Bišāra Zalzal (1851-1905) and Ḫalīl Saʿāda. In Beirut you published a total of 24 issues in one year, which appeared every fortnight.

As early as 1874, George E. Post (1838–1909) founded the predecessor of aṭ-Ṭabīb, which was called "Aḫbār Ṭibbīya" ("Medical Messages"). As a member of the American Mission in Beirut and professor at the medical school of the Syrian Protestant College (now the American University of Beirut , AUB), Post created a medical journal for the college students. After the takeover, al-Yāziǧī changed the paper into an encyclopedic educational journal, which was now subtitled "Maǧalla ṭibbīya ʿilmīya ṣināʿīya" and was based on models such as al-Ǧinān and al-Muqtaṭaf . The content of his articles should be medical, scientific, literary and linguistic.

Despite the failure of aṭ-Ṭabīb, al-Yāziǧī brought out two more magazines in Cairo a few years later , al-Bayān (1897/98) and aḍ-Ḍiyāʾ (1898–1906).

A complete and freely accessible online version of the journal can be found in the digital collections of the University and State Library of Bonn .
