The Ataturkçü Düşünce Derneği (German: "Association for the promotion of Ataturk's ideas"; abbreviation: ADD ) is a Kemalist Turkish political and cultural association.

Foundation and goals

The association was founded on May 19, 1989 in Ankara . May 19 is a Turkish holiday as the beginning of the Turkish War of Liberation ( 19 Mayıs Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı ). The ADD states the promotion of science and culture in Turkey and a peace-oriented foreign policy as goals and is committed to pluralism and liberal and social human rights . He opposes racism and understands all people who were born within the limits of the Turkish National Pact of 1920 as "Turks". It has centers and branches in many Turkish cities, comparatively few in the east and southeast of the country. Its total assets in 2012 were about 4.3 million YTL . The current chairman is Tansel Çölaşan , wife of Emin Çölaşan .

activities

The association participated in the preparation and implementation of the protests against the AKP government in 2007 and 2013 . It is also active in the diaspora and is organized in Europe under the name "Federation of associations for the promotion of Ataturk's ideas in Europe". German local associations took part in solidarity rallies in various German cities for the protests in Turkey since the end of May 2013. They protested against the deployment of patriot defense systems of the German armed forces in Turkey.
