Athenagoras Ziliaskopoulos

Christos-Athenagoras Ziliaskopoulos ( Greek Αθηναγόρας Ζηλιασκόπουλος00 ; * October 24, 1970 in Reutlingen ) is an archimandrite of the Ecumenical Patriarchate . Since 1997 he has been pastor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Germany .

Life

Coming from a Christian-Islamic region of northern Greece, he spent his childhood in a multicultural, interreligious courtyard in a small Swabian village. He studied German as a foreign language and theology at the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki and German , religious studies and education at the JWG University in Frankfurt . Since 2004 Master of Theology at Aristotle University and since 2005 research in the field of dogmatics- ecumenical theology on the topic of "Statements of the EKD on the papal encyclicals after 1965. Relations of the EKD to the Roman Catholic Church according to Vatican II " at the same University in Frankfurt. He has u. a. worked as a pedagogue in the Evangelical day care center in Hausen, as a teacher in the Greek Lyzeum Wiesbaden and as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt / Department of Social and Cultural Studies.

On 20 July 1997 on the deacon and on May 16, 1998 Metropolitan Augoustinos of Germany for priests ordained, he received from the Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Constantinople Opel Bartholomew I on 24 October 2000 the title of Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. As a deacon he served the Prophet Elias congregation in Frankfurt-Bockenheim and as pastor of the St. Nektarios congregation in Neuss (1998–1999) and the Salvatorkirche in Munich (1999–2004). Since July 26, 2004 he has served the Prophet Elias Congregation in Frankfurt. In parallel to the parish duties, he is episcopal vicar (deputy bishop) for Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2007 he has been an airport chaplain (Orthodox Chapel at Frankfurt Airport ) and since January 1, 2009 student representative of the Orthodox Bishops' Conference in Germany . On September 10, 2008 he was appointed deputy. Elected chairman of the ACK-Frankfurt. Previously as a representative of the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Region of Germany at ACK- Munich, ACK-Bavaria and Ökum. Breakfast Frankfurt. On behalf of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, he took part as a delegate in the dialogue between the CPCE (Community of Evangelical Churches in Europe-Leuenberg Agreement) and the Orthodox Churches and in the EEA3 (3rd European Ecumenical Assembly ) in Sibiu, organized by the CEC . From 2009 to 2012 he was chairman of the Frankfurt Council of Religions .

Since 2011 he has also been a member of the nationwide Ecumenical Preparatory Committee for the Intercultural Weeks, a member of the board of the International Convention of Christian Congregations of Other Mother Tongues in Frankfurt, a member of the organizing committee of the Christian-Islamic Week Frankfurt and a member of the Christian-Islamic Dialogue Frankfurt.
