Atidsche Bajrjamowa Aliewa-Weli ( Bulgarian Атидже Байрямова Алиева-Вели ; scientific transliteration Atidže Bajrjamova Alieva-Veli ; born September 18, 1981 in Devin , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian politician ( DPS ). Alieva-Veli has been a member of the European Parliament as part of the Renew Europe group since the 2019 European elections .

Life

education

Atidsche Aliewa-Weli was born on September 18 in the Bulgarian city of Dewin, but grew up in Borino . After graduating from school, she studied biotechnology for a bachelor's degree until 2003, followed by a degree in industrial biotechnology at Sofia University until 2005 . In early 2014, she completed a second master's degree in public administration at the University of National and World Economy .

Activity in the Agricultural Fund

In 2007 Aliewa-Weli started working, initially she was employed by the State Agricultural Insurance as an expert in the dairy sector.

In 2011 Aliewa-Weli started working for the State Agricultural Fund, and since 2013 she has been one of several deputy heads. The State Agricultural Fund is responsible for distributing EU agricultural subsidies in Bulgaria and has been involved in several scandals, among other things, the fund is said to have financed eight “inns”, five of which are in the home of Alieva-Velis. Alieva-Veli is said to have been responsible for the financial supervision of the fund.

In addition, the Bulgarian website bivol.bg published irregularities in Aliewa-Weli's income and tax returns in the run-up to the 2019 European elections. Among other things, her father is said to have bought a large villa with money from an unknown source.

Election to the European Parliament

In 2019, her party, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (Движение за права и свободи, DPS / ДПС) nominated Aliewa-Weli to fifth place on the electoral list. The party won 16.4 percent and three seats in the European elections. The first on the list and known as an oligarch, Deljan Peewski renounced his mandate, as did the second-placed party chairman Mustafa Karadaya .
