Atilla Aldemir (viola)

Atilla Aldemir (* 1975 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish violinist and violist who lives in Leipzig.

Life

education

Atilla Aldemir received his musical training at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University in his hometown İstanbul. After graduating in 1994, he studied with Prof. Lukas David at the Detmold University of Music in Germany. After the artistic maturity examination (1999) followed studies at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen with Prof. Mintcho Mintchev, where he passed his concert exam with distinction in 2002.

Atilla Aldemir also received valuable artistic impulses from Barbara Gorzynska and Prof. Matthias Maurer in Vienna.

Solo activity

Concert tours have taken Atilla Aldemir to numerous European countries, the USA, Israel and Egypt. He has made guest appearances in concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic , the Wiener Konzerthaus , the Wiener Musikverein , the Semperoper Dresden, and the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig . In addition, he performed as a soloist a. a. with the Camerata Salzburg, the Orchester National Bordeaux Aquitaine and the Orchester National Montpellier, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin, the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig, the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (Ankara) as well as all the state symphony orchestras in Turkey.

Aldemir a. a. together with conductors such as Iván Fischer , Lawrence Foster and Sascha Goetzel .

Since April 2017 he has been principal violist of the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Leipzig.

Chamber music activities

Aldemir's chamber music partners include a. Fazıl Say , Hüseyin Sermet, and Jeremy Menuhin.

Aldemir has performed solo and chamber music concerts at international festivals such as MDR Musiksommer, Istanbul (IKSV), Eskisehir, Ankara, Lapedona (Italy), Cappadocia.

Recordings

In 2003 Atilla Aldemir recorded his first CD under the title " The Contemporary Voice of Turkish Music ", which was released by Dreyer Gaido Musikproduktion in Berlin. The music magazine Fono Forum wrote about the recording: “It is a stroke of luck that such confident performers as Aldemir and Karayel have devoted themselves to this unusual program. "

Other CDs have been released by the Musicaphon-Cantata and GWK-Records labels.

Instruments

Aldemir plays a viola by Peregrino di Zanetto (1560), on loan from the former principal violist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam Matthias Maurer, as well as a violin by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume (1840), which was financed by the Sponsoring Association of Internationally Active Turkish Entrepreneurs .

  • 2008: 3rd prize in the viola category and the prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work at the 15th International Johannes Brahms Competition
  • 2011: Donizetti Prize Istanbul for the best Turkish interpreter of a string instrument
