Attitude is the fifth studio album by the Norwegian thrash metal band Susperia . It was released on May 18, 2009 by Candlelight Records .

Emergence

After the previous album Cut from Stone was recorded under stressful conditions, the musicians took more time for the album Attitude . In the summer of 2008, the band retired to bassist Memnock's (real Håkon Didriksen ) cabin in the woods and was able to work on the new material without distraction. The 2004 album Unlimited was created in a similar way. Originally the album was supposed to be called Speaking Killing Words .

The drums and vocals were recorded in October and November 2008 in the Strand Studios in Oslo , the guitars and bass in December 2008 in Studio Cyrus. The album was produced by the band itself. Mixed is Attitude by Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordström, the mastering took Tim Turan. Guest musicians were the Testament singer Chuck Billy (“Live My Dreams”) and the Dimmu Borgir singer Shagrath (bourgeois Stian Tomt Thoresen ; “Sick Bastard”). Billy already wanted to work on the previous album Cut from Stone , which didn't work out due to scheduling reasons. Shagrath, on the other hand, is friends with the musicians from Susperia and was a regular guest in the studio when Athera (bourgeois Pål Mathiesen ) recorded his vocals.

In addition, Susperia parted ways with their previous label Tabu Recordings . The company was bought by a large corporation, which caused many employees to be laid off. According to Memnock, none of the employees who had signed Susperia at the time were there. In February 2009 the band was signed by Candlelight Records, who had previously sold Susperia's albums in the USA .

reception

For the reviewer Jens from the online magazine Metal.de , Attitude is an "impressive album". It was "energetic, honest and simply the Thrash surprise of the year!", But criticized the short playing time of almost 37 minutes. He awarded nine out of ten points. Enrico Ahlig from the online magazine Powermetal.de described Attitude as a "recommendable album for metal fans of all stripes" and awarded 8.5 out of ten points. Larry Owens from the online magazine Teeth of the Divine was disappointed, however , who criticized Athera's clear vocals and the "boring, repetitive guitar riffs".
