Atys (son of Alba)
Atys is a descendant of Aeneas and the sixth king of Alba Longa in Roman mythology .
His predecessor was his father Alba Silvius . There are various details about his name. Atys appears in Livy's list of kings , with Ovid the successor of Alba Silvius is Epitus , with Diodorus Epitus Silva and with Dionysius of Halicarnassus he is called Kapetos . The latter is probably a transcription error, since the name of the eighth king is also Capetus ( Kalpetus in Dionysius of Halicarnassus).
According to legendary lore, he ruled for 26 years. If one takes the reigns given by Dionysius of Halicarnassus as a basis with a back calculation from the traditional year of the founding of Rome , this corresponds to the years 991 to 965 BC. His successor was Capys .
