geography

Geographical location

The Atzenberger Höhe is located in Upper Swabia, roughly in the center of the urban quadrilateral between Bad Buchau , Bad Schussenried (both districts of Biberach), Aulendorf (district of Ravensburg) and Bad Saulgau (district of Sigmaringen). While the forest landscape is particularly in the south of the Biberach district and in the north of the Ravensburg district, its northwestern foothills extend into the east of the Sigmaringen district. The border of the two first-mentioned districts runs roughly in a north-north-west-south-south-east direction through the Atzenberger Höhe. Located to the north and east of the municipality of Ebersbach-Musbach (district of Ravensburg), its highest point is a 710.8  m high nameless hilltop, which rises around one kilometer northeast of the Musbach hamlet of Winnenden.

Watershed

The Atzenberger Höhe lies on the European watershed . Near its apex rises near beer Stetten of Bierstätter Bach , who on the Kanzach and Danube to the Black Sea flows. A little further away in the Musbacher Ried rises the small Riedbach, which drains over the Hühler Ach and Schussen into Lake Constance , thus into the Rhine and finally into the North Sea.

Tourism and sport

The Atzenberger Höhe, with its wooded mountain ranges, offers hiking opportunities in every season. Several cross-country trails are also prepared in winter. There is a choice of three easy to moderately difficult circuits as well as numerous connecting trails with a total length of around 30 kilometers. Start and finish is the car park on the Hopferbach - Otterswang district road .

Telecommunications tower

A striking point of the Atzenberger Höhe is an 85 meter high telecommunications tower ( location ) .
