The Au Sable River is a tributary of Lake Huron in the US state of Michigan .

The Au Sable River flows through the northern part of the lower Michigan Peninsula in an easterly direction before flowing into the Huron Sea at Au Sable . The Au Sable River arises at the confluence of Kolke Creek and Bradford Creek north of Frederic . The Au Sable River has a length of about 220 km. The catchment area covers 4946 km².

The river is suitable for canoe trips .

37 km of the Au Sable River was added to the Scenic River category of the National Wild and Scenic River Program on October 4, 1984 .
