The Audi type SS - or Audi Zwickau - is a passenger car of the superclass with eight-cylinder engine by the Audiwerke in Zwickau as a successor of the type R "Emperor" brought out.

The SS type was the first new Audi passenger car after the factory was taken over by Zschopauer Motorenwerke JS Rasmussen AG ( DKW ). The vehicle has a side-controlled in - line engine with 5.1 liter displacement installed at the front . It develops 100 hp (74 kW) at 3000 min -1 and drives, via a four-speed gearbox with gear lever in the center of the car, the rear wheels. The engines were American designs and were manufactured in the DKW branch in Scharfenstein , where the Zschopauer Motorenwerke had set up a new production facility with machines from the former US company Rickenbacker Motor Company . The car had two leaf-sprung rigid axles and hydraulically operated brakes on all wheels. It was available as a four-door Pullman sedan or four-door convertible.

457 copies had been made by 1932.
