Auendorf , formerly Ganslosen , is a district of Bad Ditzenbach in Baden-Württemberg .

location

The village is located about five kilometers north of Bad Ditzenbach on the northern Swabian Alb , in the valley of the Wettenbach, which is fed by the Linsen stream in the village . The city of Göppingen is 16 kilometers away.

history

Ganslosen was first mentioned in 1137 on the occasion of the donation of a church and six courtyards.

In 1849 the place was renamed Auendorf at the request of the residents by order of the King of Württemberg , since Ganslosen was one of the so-called fool's places (the most famous is Schilda , the home of the Schildbürger), whose simple-minded residents were ridiculed.

In 1849 the local chaplain wrote:

“It is known that our place and its inhabitants are burdened with all kinds of follies and follies and that stories about them are circulating under the name of“ goose-less pranks ”all over Swabia and even in other German countries. We do not need to prove that such narratives about the local place are fictional and are only burdened on it because of its name, which originally was not even called Gooseless , but rather Gassless , since the local people are among the inhabitants of neighboring places who know them better were by no means considered foolish and silly. We could therefore ignore it indifferently if our place name did not remind the distant people who do not know us and consider those stories to be true, of them again and again and give them cause for laughter and mockery. This then has the dire consequence that local people, when they meet strangers, usually shy away from naming their place names in order not to arouse laughter and ridicule, and that some in a foreign country deny it and a place other than theirs Specify home. It has even happened that the clergy were asked to omit the place name or to write it incorrectly in a baptismal certificate to be issued. There have also been fights over the name because of the mockery. In order to avoid these and other inconveniences for the future, we urgently and as soon as possible a change of our place name [...] "

The story of the Ganslosener "Hommelhenkern" (namesake of a fool's association founded in Auendorf in 1998) was processed in 1825 by Rudolf Friedrich Heinrich von Magenau in a poem in which it says:

Also, in terms of fame and splendor,
no village is the same as Ganslosen!

Auendorf is the only district in the Bad Ditzenbach community with a predominantly Protestant population. While the upper Filstal was part of Württemberg only since 1806, Auendorf (Ganslosen) has belonged to Württemberg since 1418 and became Protestant with it in 1534. The Evangelical Church Community of Auendorf is still the only public body in Auendorf.

On September 1, 1973, Auendorf and its Hardtmühle district were incorporated into the Bad Ditzenbach community.

today

Auendorf is still agriculturally structured and known for its Simmental cattle breeding . A local specialty is Hägenmark , a jam made from rose hips , which is produced here in the traditional raw process. The Auendorfer Summer Festival takes place every year.

The Protestant parish church St. Stephanus is worth seeing. The Auendorfer coat of arms shows a green branch of rose hip with two red fruits in gold. The local colors are red and gold.

Economy and Infrastructure

Infrastructure

Auendorf is connected to the towns of Gammelshausen , Gruibingen and Bad Ditzenbach via country roads . A bus line runs u. a. to the cities of Göppingen and Wiesensteig . Due to its location in a valley cut, problems arise for Auendorf with the availability of modern technologies. Since terrestrial television reception used to be difficult and there is still no connection to the supra-local broadband network, a local antenna community was founded in 1971 by the Auendorfer citizens, which supplies local households with television via cable. In Auendorf there are z. T. no cell phone reception.

Companies

Auendorf is still an agricultural place. There are also some small and medium-sized businesses, v. a. from the craft sector. The largest employer is a sales department for school items with over 30 employees. As well as the Hotel Restaurant Talblick with 28 employees and around 7000 overnight stays p. a.
