The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is a church building in Glücksburg , a town near the regional center of Flensburg in Schleswig-Holstein .
history
Evangelical services have been celebrated in the castle chapel of Glücksburg Castle since 1620 . In 1960 the congregation had grown to 7,000 members; the soldiers of the naval base belonged to the catchment area. After the success in the architectural competition , the architect Hermann Rein built the church from 1963 to 1965 on the edge of the cemetery . Architect Rein had previously realized various structures in Flensburg. The new Church of the Resurrection was consecrated on May 27, 1965.
Architecture and equipment
The church, an east-facing brick building , is divided into three sections, each on a trapezoidal floor plan. In the middle part there are two blocks of stalls, in the western part there is a spacious entrance hall, which can be connected to the church.
In the eastern part is chancel illuminated through a lateral window wall. Reinforced concrete girders structure the space, on which the roof covered with artificial slate and the wood-paneled ceiling rest . The large windows and the round openings on the north side are colored glazed with abstract patterns. The architect-designed parts of the altar, baptism and pulpit are kept simple. The altar stands under a large wooden cross , it is surrounded by candlesticks. The separate tower with four bells in the northeast is connected to the church by a pergola .

Others
In front of the church there are three steel bells that were cast by Schillig and Lattermann in Apolda in 1921 . They were hung in the bell tower by the cemetery. The bells served as a replacement for the bronze bells in the castle, which the army administration requested in 1917. In 2000 the church got new bronze bells , cast by the Karlsruhe bell and art foundry .
