The ringed warbler ( Oporornis agilis ) is a small bird in the family of the wood warbler (Parulidae) and the only species in the genus Oporornis . The Kentucky wood warbler , gray-headed wood warbler and the thicket wood warbler used to belong to this genus, but are now assigned to the genus yellow throats ( Geothlypis ).

The ring warbler has olive-green upper plumage and dull yellow lower plumage. The male's head, throat, and upper chest are gray; in the female these areas are brownish. They wear a white eye ring around their eyes and their beaks are thin and pointed. Their legs are slightly pink in color.

They feed mainly on insects . Berries and seeds are rarely picked up.

The bowl-shaped nest is built on the ground or just above the ground in a bush or shrub. Grass, leaves and other vegetable fibers are used as nesting material. A clutch consists of four to five white, brown-spotted eggs.

The approximately 14 centimeter tall shy bird with the English name Connecticut Warbler was named after the place of its discovery in Connecticut . However, it is rarely found during the Connecticut hike. The distribution area in the breeding season extends from the south in Canada over North America to Central America . They prefer to breed near swamps or in deciduous forests near a body of water. Their wintering areas are in the north of South America .
