The Augsburg is a motor-driven passenger ship on the Ammersee , which runs regular service between the towns on the lake in summer . The ship was built in 2008 and named after the third largest city in Bavaria , Augsburg . Since, with the exception of Augsburg, all passenger ships on the Ammersee are named after villages in the Ammersee region, this naming initially caused displeasure in some neighboring communities, but has now been accepted - not least because the Ammersee is a traditional excursion area for the Augsburg population ("Augsburger Meer") .
Ship description
The ship has a total length of 36 meters with a width of 7.8 meters and a draft of 1.25 meters. It is approved for the transport of 300 people and has 110 indoor seats.
The drive consists of two low-emission Volvo - diesel engines (depending 182 kW), the power through a shaft system is transferred to two five-bladed propellers. A Schottel transverse jet system serves as a maneuvering aid when docking. The crew consists of two men.
The Augsburg was built in the Lux shipyard in Niederkassel near Bonn , the interior work was done at Auer, Innsbruck .
