Augstein and Blome

Augstein und Blome was a weekly discussion program by the two journalists Jakob Augstein , publisher of the weekly newspaper der Freitag , and Nikolaus Blome , who was head of the capital city office of the Bild newspaper until 2013, head of the capital city ​​office of Spiegel until May 2015 and from December 2015 to October 2019 was deputy editor-in-chief of the Bild newspaper. It ran weekly at Phoenix from January 21, 2011 to August 27, 2020 .

In the ten to fifteen minute broadcast Augstein and Blome discussed the political issue of the week. In a kind of verbal exchange of blows, they debated controversial topics such as the euro crisis , the energy transition or the NSA affair . Characteristic of this political talk was the often opposing opinion and argumentation of the two journalists, with Augstein representing the left-progressive and Blome the liberal-conservative approach. In this regard, the format of the dynamics of the previous recalls ZDF telecast, " frontal " with Bodo H. Hauser and Ulrich Kienzle , or even to "left-right" at N24 withHajo Schumacher and Hans-Hermann Tiedje .

The first broadcast took place on Fridays at around 5 p.m. after the repetition of the Maybrit Illner program . The individual episodes are also available on the Phoenix channel on YouTube . In the “Friday” community, audience reactions are collected and discussed.

When Nikolaus Blome switched to RTL , the program was discontinued on August 30, 2020.
