August Adam (theologian)

August Adam (born April 14, 1888 in Pursruck , Upper Palatinate , † February 5, 1965 in Straubing ) was a German Catholic priest and theologian.

Career

Adam was born on April 14, 1888 in the Upper Palatinate parish village of Pursruck as one of eleven children of the teacher Clemens Adam and his wife Babette. Like his brother Karl (1876–1966), who was twelve years older than him, he was also a priest and theologian.

He was ordained priest on July 4, 1911 in Regensburg Cathedral . He was a cathedral parish cooperator in Regensburg and from 1922 studied with his brother in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1924, he taught religion at the secondary school in Straubing. From 1928 to 1953 he taught at the humanistic grammar school in Straubing.

He published several theological writings. As a member of the CSU , he was a member of the Straubing City Council.
