August Albrecht (politician)

August Albrecht (born November 16, 1907 in Romanshorn , † April 12, 1988 in Lucerne , Catholic , resident in Mels ) was a Swiss politician (CVP) .

Life

August Albrecht, born in 1907 as the son of the SBB adjunct August Albrecht senior, first completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith at BBC Baden, then studied at the Technikum Winterthur , where he graduated from HTL in 1931 with a diploma as an electrical engineer.

After that, Albrecht worked professionally for over forty years, from 1937 to 1978, as the first director of the Nidwalden power station. August Albrecht also acted as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stansstad-Engelberg-Bahn (LSE) , on the Board of Directors of Oerlikon-Bührle-Holding AG and Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG .

In the Swiss Army he served with the rank of artillery colonel. August Albrecht, who married Elsa Waber, born in 1933, died on April 12, 1988 at the age of 80 in Lucerne.

Political career

In contrast to his brother Hans , Albrecht belonged to the CVP at the political level . From 1958 to 1974 he worked as construction, transport and energy director in the Nidwalden government council . He was also a member of the National Council from 1967 to 1979 . The eloquent Albrecht always understood how to win the Nidwalden electorate for the expansion of the traffic routes, namely the LSE and the A2 .
