August Bernhard Valentin Herbing
August Bernhard Valentin Herbing (born March 9, 1735 in Halberstadt ; † February 26, 1766 in Magdeburg ) was a German organist and composer .
Life
Herbing was the son of the cantor Johann Georg Herbing (1698–1783). In 1744 he went to Hamburg and was a student at the Johanneum there . Here he possibly received composition lessons from Georg Philipp Telemann . He later worked at the Magdeburg Cathedral and the Magdeburg High School . In 1755 he was appointed substitute and adjunct to the cathedral organist Georg Tegtmeyer , whose successor he was in 1764.
