August Theodor Blanche
August Theodor Blanche (born September 17, 1811 in Stockholm , † November 30, 1868 there ) was a Swedish writer .
Life
Blanche studied law at Uppsala University and took the candidate exam in 1838. After brief employment in the civil service, he joined the editorial team of the liberal magazine Freja , where he was editor-in-chief from 1842. In 1853 he finally turned to literature. He had previously established his reputation through a series of comedies such as Hittelbarnet (1847), Rika Morbror (1845) and En tragedi i Wimmerby (1848).
Blanche was also one of the most popular Swedish storytellers at the time, and most of his novels have been translated into German. His pictures ur verkligheten , which he published in the Illustrerad Tidning since 1857 , borrow their material from Stockholm folk life (as book 4 volumes 1863-1865, Stockholm).
Blanche was also politically active. In 1859/60, 1862/63 and 1865/66 he was a member of the citizenry in the Swedish Estates Parliament . Here he successfully campaigned for the transformation of the four-chamber Reichstag into a representative two-chamber parliament . In 1867 and again in 1868 he was elected as a member of the Stockholm constituency in the second chamber of the new Reichstag .
