August Burkei

August Burkei (born April 23, 1922 , † August 11, 2009 in Munich ) was a German civil engineer .

Life

Burkei founded a statics office with Karl Cronauer in Munich in 1955 and initially specialized in structural planning for residential complexes and office buildings. In the 1960s, the business area was expanded to include construction implementation and construction management. In the mid-1970s, complex planning and control tasks were added for building owners. The company was involved in the construction of the new Munich airport and the redevelopment of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.

He worked as a long-term treasurer and vice-president of the Bavarian State Association of the Federal Association of Publicly Appointed, Sworn and Qualified Experts (BVS) as well as in responsible positions in the Association of Consulting Engineers .

He was married to the SPD politician Ria Burkei . Her son Ralph Burkei was a media entrepreneur.

On January 5, 2000, August Burkei received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
