August Gottschalk (politician)

August Gottschalk (born April 6, 1869 in Milspe ; † after 1924) was a German teacher and politician ( DDP ).

Life

Gottschalk attended secondary school in Schwelm and high school in Hagen . After graduating from high school, he studied Protestant theology at the universities in Bonn , Berlin and Halle as well as history at the University of Marburg . He was the rector exam for middle schools and girls' high schools, both theological examinations took off and in 1911 in History with the dissertation topic Kaiser Sigmund as an intermediary between Pope and Council 1431-34 to Dr. phil. PhD .

Gottschalk began his career as a teacher at the elementary school in Milspe. The other positions were rector in Asseln , vice-rector in Kamen , teacher at the agricultural school in Marburg , senior teacher at the Oberlyzeum in Leer , senior teacher in Celle , head of the secondary school in Neidenburg and senior teacher at the Oberlyzeum in Cologne . In the meantime he had passed the examination for the higher teaching post. In 1911 he became director of the teachers' college in Gummersbach .

After the November Revolution, Gottschalk joined the German Democratic Party (DDP). From May 7, 1919 to 1921, he was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he was a member until 1924. From October 1921 to 1924 he was managing director of the DDP parliamentary group. In parliament he represented constituency 20 (Cologne-Aachen).
