August Köhler (painter)
August Köhler (born August 25, 1881 in Stuttgart ; † 1964 there ) was a German portrait and figure painter in Stuttgart.
Life
From 1895 to 1903 August Köhler worked as a practical lithographer , then he attended the Stuttgart Academy under Robert Pötzelberger , Christian Landenberger and Robert von Haug until 1912 . The Academy awarded him the gold medal in 1912.
Köhler was particularly valued for his distinctive and expressive portrait paintings; He also created figure pictures and depictions of military scenes.
Köhler's paintings were shown at exhibitions in Munich's Glaspalast in 1910, at the Great Art Exhibition in Düsseldorf in 1911 and at the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin in 1912. He was also represented at the Great Art Exhibition in Stuttgart in 1913. He was a member of the Stuttgart Artists' Association .
He found his final resting place in the forest cemetery in Stuttgart .
