August Lansky

Johann Friedrich August Lansky (born June 9, 1818 in Dresden ; † October 3, 1897 there ) was a German teacher and school director in Dresden as well as editor of the Saxon school newspaper and member of the board of the Saxon teachers' association.

Life

Johann Friedrich August Lansky was born on June 9, 1818 in the Saxon residence city of Dresden and attended the secondary school in Dresden-Neustadt from 1832 to 1834. He then switched to the Friedrichstadt school teacher seminar until 1838. August Lansky was a private tutor until 1839, before becoming a permanent teacher in Zaschendorf near Meißen in 1841 . In 1851 he was appointed teacher at the second district school in Meissen. In 1866 he became director of the ninth district school in Dresden.

He was a companion of August Berthelt , the pioneer of the Saxon elementary school and member of the board of the Saxon Pestalozzi Association and member of the board of the General Saxon Teachers Association, also an honorary member of the Pedagogical Association in Plauenschen Grund. He gained fame above all as an editor and publisher of the Sächsische Schulzeitung (SSZ). As such, he had to answer publicly several times for unpopular articles.

After his death, he was buried in the Trinity Cemetery in Dresden-Johannstadt in autumn 1897.
