August Lindemann (architect)
August Lindemann (born September 6, 1842 in Neustadt (Dosse) ; † March 28, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German architect and municipal building officer in Berlin.
Life
August Lindemann was born on September 6, 1842 in Neustadt an der Dosse. Until 1869 he studied at the Berlin Building Academy . In the following decades he supported the Berlin urban planning officer Hermann Blankenstein in architectural matters as an urban planning inspector during his tenure, which lasted from 1872 to 1896. Blankenstein and his employees had to cope with an immense construction program that led to the development of Berlin into a metropolis, including around 120 school buildings or supply buildings such as the city's central cattle and slaughterhouse and the 15 city market halls . Lindemann published two extensive publications in 1885 and 1899 on the facilities and equipment of the central cattle yard and slaughterhouse and the market halls . From 1893 to 1895, Lindemann worked as treasurer of the Berlin Architects' Association , which he had already joined in 1870. He died on March 28, 1921 in Berlin.
On October 1, 2003, August-Lindemann-Strasse in the Alter Schlachthof development area was named in his honor.
