August Markl (born June 2, 1948 in Munich ) is a German doctor, lecturer and association official .

Life

Markl studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1982 on a topic in the field of alcoholism . He specialized as a radiologist . For a few years he was a private lecturer at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Since 2003 he has been an advisory board member of the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and has been a lecturer there since 2005.

ADAC

In 1971, while still a student, Markl founded the ADAC local club "Scuderia Magra" with friends from motorsport. In 1979 he became advisor to ADAC Südbayern. In 1988 he became a board member and thus a member of the extended board, from 1992 to 2001 he was a board member for local club work of the ADAC Südbayern, since 2001 he was its chairman. Markl has been a member of the ADAC administrative board since 2000 and is chairman of the ADAC cultural group. He was also chairman of the ADAC traffic safety group in Bavaria.

Markl has also been First Vice President of the ADAC since 2011 and acting chairman from the beginning of 2014. Since December 6, 2014 he has been president of the ADAC .

Honor

For decades of voluntary work in youth and traffic safety work, Markl was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon by the Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann .

Private

Markl is married and has a grown son and lives in Schaftlach .
