Municipalities in the Miesbach district before the 1978 regional reform
|
Schaftlach is the largest part of the municipality of Waakirchen. Until the regional reform in 1978 it was an independent municipality in the Miesbach district in the south of the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Bavaria.
location
Shaftlach is located north of Waakirchen on the railway line of the Bayerische Oberlandbahn towards Lenggries, Tegernsee and Munich. In the former community of Schaftlach there were the districts of Piesenkam , Krottenthal, Kappelschuster and several hamlets and farms.
history
Shaftlach was first mentioned in 1015. The Holy Cross Church in the village center belonged to the Gmund parish of the Tegernsee monastery until the secularization in 1803 and then became an independent parish. The church was built by the Tegernsee monastery builder Alex Gugler and consecrated on August 4, 1476. The shaft laugh cross is in it.
During the Thirty Years War (1618–1648), Schaftlach was largely destroyed by Swedish troops and the plague .
The municipality was united with the municipality of Waakirchen on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform . The new community is now also called the "Waakirchen-Schaftlach community".
