Gotzing is a district of Weyarn in Upper Bavaria. The place name can be traced back to the Celtic times, which can be recognized by the ending on ing that was typical for this time .

geography

Gotzing is located south of Weyarn above the Mangfall valley . In addition to the core village, the surrounding houses that make up Obergotzing are often considered to be part of Gotzing. There is also a strong cultural and social bond with the neighboring village of Hinterberg, which belongs to Warngau. These three parts formed the Gotzing community before the community reform.

population

The core village has 12 inhabitants, and there are also a loose number of farms and houses in Obergotzing.

Culture and sights

Gotzing has a Jakobuskirche, which is also on the Jakobsweg, as well as the Gotzinger drum inn, whose landlord Hans Triebel has often attracted media attention with his somewhat idiosyncratic commitment to the Bavarian language. There is also the old schoolhouse at the end of the village, which was in operation until the end of the 1960s.

Gotzing has its own volunteer fire brigade (FF Gotzing) and a traditional costume association (Trachtenverein Thalham-Gotzing). These two clubs underline the solidarity between Gotzing, Obergotzing and Hinterberg.
