August Prüßner (born November 3, 1895 in Bad Salzuflen ; † July 29, 1970 there ) was a German politician and member of the Lippe state parliament ( NSDAP ).

Life and work

He was the son of August Prüßner and his wife Frieda geb. Brandt. After attending elementary school and six months of practical work as a factory worker, August Prüßner completed a commercial apprenticeship in a confectionery shop in Bad Salzuflen. He then worked as an employee and business traveler before participating in the First World War from 1915 to 1918 , where he last worked as a paymaster .

After the end of the war, he went back to his old company, where he became an authorized signatory and co-owner. In the course of the global economic crisis in 1929 the company was liquidated and Prüßner had to pursue other occupations. From 1931 he worked as an editor for the Lippische Kurier . This was published from October 1929 to September 30, 1933 and has been close to the NSDAP since 1931. From October 1, 1933, August Prüßner worked as chief editor for the Lippische Staatszeitung , the official organ of the NSDAP , the state government and all authorities in the Westphalia-North district . This newspaper had a circulation of 18,400 copies in autumn 1936.

Prüßner had been a member of the NSDAP since April 1, 1931 (membership number 509 516). He was active in various party committees of the Bad Salzuflen local group and was elected city councilor there in 1932. In 1933 he was elected as a member of the Lippe Landtag .

From 1932 to 1938 he worked as district leader of the NSDAP in Lemgo . He then served as Gauredner active and from 1942 as Gaupresseamtsleiter.

In 1944 he was made an honorary SA storm leader .

After the Second World War , August Prüßner was interned for two years. In 1967 he moved back to his hometown, where he died three years later.
