Parish church Röhrenbach
The parish church Röhrenbach or parish church Maria Eich is the parish church of the parish Röhrenbach in the Lower Austrian municipality Röhrenbach in the district of Horn . The church consecrated to St. Michael belongs to the deanery Horn in the diocese of St. Pölten . The single-aisled parish church in the middle of the cemetery forms a separate complex with the rectory and the former farm buildings outside the village of Röhrenbach and is known as Eich-Maria (Maria Eich).
Originally a Romanesque square choir church, the church was expanded around 1500 with a late Gothic choir with a five- eighth end. In the period from about the middle of the 17th century to the first quarter of the 18th century, the church was extensively rebuilt and redesigned, essentially maintaining its current appearance. Among other things, the tower was built and the church was baroque .
Church and parish history
The beginnings of church life go back to the 2nd half of the 11th century. In 1251 Gertrud, Hermann's widow of Carinthia , donated the parish to Altenburg Abbey and in 1427 the church, like the town, was devastated by the Hussites . At the end of the 16th century, the parish church silver, consisting of a silver monstrance , two chalices and a cross, was kept in Greillenstein Castle for greater security . At this time of denominational differences there was no pastor in Röhrenbach and the pastoral care was provided from Altenburg. It was not until the middle of the 17th century that Röhrenbach became completely Catholic again and the church was subsequently rebuilt.
There were major restorations of the church in 1860/1861 and 1900. In 2006 the parish church received a completely new bell; consisting of seven bronze bells cast by the Perner bell foundry in Passau.
