Hermann Scheffler (physicist)

August Christian Wilhelm Hermann Scheffler (born October 10, 1820 in Braunschweig ; † August 14, 1903 there ) was a German engineer , mathematician and physicist .

Life

Scheffler had been working as a building supervisor and land surveyor since 1846 , became finance secretary in 1851 and finance assessor at the ducal railway and post office in Braunschweig in 1853. In 1854 Scheffler was made a building officer and in 1870 a senior building officer. In his time he was considered an important railway specialist, developed building and operating principles in the railway industry and wrote numerous mathematical and physical works. From 1876 to 1885 he was railway director in Braunschweig. On February 4, 1937, Jüdelstrasse in the Bebelhof was renamed Schefflerstrasse after him.
