August Schmuck (born August 13, 1862 in Lemgo ; † March 3, 1932 ibid) was a German tobacco worker and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Jewelry, which was of the Protestant denomination , was the son of a bricklayer . He attended elementary school and then worked as a small business owner, bricklayer and tobacco worker. Since 1912 he was an independent cigar manufacturer in Lemgo.

Since the 1890s he was one of the leading party and trade union officials in Lippe . From 1898 to 1932 he was a city ​​councilor in Lemgo.

He was a member of the Lippe state parliament from 1900 to 1932. He was elected in the regional election in Lippe in 1900 in the runoff election on December 27, 1900 in the second constituency of the third class with 951 of 1669 votes. In doing so, he prevailed against the master tailorjacket, who in the first ballot on December 12, 1900, was second behind jewelry (45.0%) with 32.3% of the votes. In the following elections he also succeeded in winning the constituency in the runoff election. In the state elections in Lippe in 1913 , he received an absolute majority in the first ballot.

From 1917 to 1918 he was chairman of the trade union cartel in Lemgo. After the November Revolution he was a member of the Lippe People's and Soldiers' Council from November 1918 to February 1919 . In the Weimar Republic he was elected to the state parliament on the list of the SPD in all state elections until 1928. From June 1921 to February 1925 he was a member of the Lippe State Presidium.
