August bulls
August Stieren (born October 17, 1885 in Haaren near Büren (Westphalia) , † January 26, 1970 in Hiltrup ) was a German archaeologist and university professor.
Life
From 1930 to 1969 he was chairman of the Antiquities Commission for Westphalia. In 1933 the German Archaeological Institute elected him a full member. A year later, the Historical Commission for Westphalia elected him a full member, and from 1968 he was a corresponding member of the commission.
From 1935 he was honorary professor in Münster . In 1937 he represented it when the chair for “German Prehistory” was established. From 1946 to 1954 Stieren was full professor for “Prehistoric Archeology, German Prehistory and Early History”.
