August Straub (politician)
August Straub (born August 3, 1812 in Lörrach , † February 11, 1879 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German physician and politician .
Life
Born as the son of a law firm, Straub studied philosophy and then medicine in Freiburg. During his studies in 1832 he became a member of the Germania Freiburg fraternity . In 1834 he was sentenced to eight days in prison and a severe reprimand for taking part in a prohibited meeting in Freiburg and the Münsterplatz excess on August 29, 1832. He was promoted to Dr. med. doctorate and worked from 1838 as a general practitioner and physician (obstetrician) in Freiburg. He was also a member of the citizens' committee and the local council and was a board member of the trade association . In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament . From 1867 to 1868 he was a member of the Baden Estates Assembly for the city of Freiburg .
