August von Honstedt
August von Honstedt (* in the 18th century; † October 31, 1821 in London ) was major general in Hanover . Most recently he was in command of the 6th Line Battalion of the King's German Legion .
He was born on October 26, 1779 as Seconde Lieutenant for Fußgarde, on August 1, 1781 lieutenant in the 15th Infantry Regiment, the Regiment Infantry was renamed the 14th in 1787, and was posted on November 28, 1784 captain . The regiment belonged to the contingent of the Hanoverian troops East India . After returning from India , he became major of the 2nd Jäger Company on April 14, 1794 and a lieutenant colonel on September 16, 1799 . As such, he joined the 2nd Infantry Regiment in 1803, before the army was disbanded by the French after the occupation of Kurhannover . Like many other officers, von Honstedt went to the King's German Legion , where he was officially accepted on December 15, 1804. There he became commander of the 6th Line Battalion. In the English lists he was often listed as Augustus Baron Honstedt . In 1808 he became Brigadier General , on July 25th 1810 he was appointed Major General and commanded the 6th Line Regiment. In the Napoleonic Wars , von Honstedt commanded a brigade on the Spanish east coast during the Spanish campaign in 1812 . He also fought in Sicily from 1807 to 1814 and in Italy in 1815. After the KGL was dissolved and the troops were taken over by the Hanover Army in 1814, he retired and was appointed commander of the Guelph Order (2nd class).
He went to London, where he died on October 31, 1821.
