August of the East (1855–1895)

August Hans Adam Berthold von der Osten (born July 29, 1855 in Witzmitz , Regenwalde district ; † May 1, 1895 ibid) was a Prussian district administrator and manor owner.

origin

He came from the noble family of the East . His parents were Kurt Moritz Lebrecht von der Osten (* 1815; † 1888) and his second wife Emma Luise Henriette, née von Gaudecker (* 1828; † 1898).

Life

August von der Osten studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1876 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg .

After graduating, he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1884 he was appointed provisional and finally in 1885 as district administrator of the Regenwalde district based in Labes . He held the office until 1893. He then lived on his manor in Witzmitz in the Regenwalde district until his death in 1895 . He was elected to the 19th to 21st Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania (1893 to 1895) for the constituency of Regenwalde .

family

He married Katharine Elisabeth Helene von der Marwitz on August 3, 1886 (* February 26, 1863). The couple had several children:

  • Kurt Adalberg (born January 15, 1889)
  • Karl August (* October 7, 1892), royal Prussian first lieutenant ∞ Wilhelmine von Boddien (* November 14, 1893; † May 3, 1945)
  • Hans Georg August (born September 9, 1895) ∞ Helga Schomburgk (born August 7, 1905)
