Augustin Genoud

Augustin Genoud-Eggis (born April 22, 1885 in Châtel-Saint-Denis ; † November 18, 1963 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a Swiss architect , painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

After attending school in Freiburg and Einsiedeln , Genoud studied architecture and painting in Munich and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He then returned to Freiburg and made trips to the Mediterranean to paint from there. From 1922 to 1927 he worked with Fréderic Broillet (1861–1927), in whose successor he took part in the restoration of listed buildings. From 1936 to 1945 he taught technical drawing at the Collège St.-Michel and gave courses at the technical college . Before 1955 he taught for a few years in Caracas as a professor of watercolors at the art college, where he also designed the presidential palace.

Of his buildings, churches in Payerne (1929), Wünnewil (1933) and the chapel in Granges (1934), as well as in Freiburg the Mottabad (with Beda Hefti , 1924), the studio building of the technical center (1930) and the Neiglen schoolhouse in Quartier Auge (1932), also the train station in Freiburg, the churches of Forel and Saint-Ours and the Wildhornhütte . As a draftsman and printmaker, Genoud recorded Freiburg and its surroundings in many albums and historical studies and left a larger work as a painter.
