Augustina Pietrantoni

Augustina Pietrantoni (birth name Livia Pietrantoni ) (born March 27, 1864 in Pozzaglia Sabina in the province of Rieti , Italy; † November 13, 1894 in Rome ) was an Italian religious and is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .

Life

Livia, who came from a poor Christian family, joined the Sisters of Mercy of Saint Johanna Antida de Thouret on March 23, 1886 at the age of 21 and took the name Augustina (Latin for the sublime ). Within the religious community , she worked as a nurse for tuberculosis patients in the Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome. As a 30-year-old, she was murdered by the patient Giuseppe Romanelli, who had just been discharged. She was buried on the Campo Verano .
