Augusto Pestana is a city or municipality with 7,096 inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil .
Originally Augusto Pestana was part of the municipality of Ijuí . The city is named after Augusto Pestana , a Brazilian politician and engineer .
history
The history of the place began in 1901 with the arrival of some German immigrants from Pomerania . In 1942, planning began for a hospital ( Hospital São Francisco ), which opened in November 1973.

The geographic position of Augusto Pestana is 28 ° 31'1 "south, 53 ° 59'31" west. The Conceição and Ijuizinho rivers flow through the city.

Augusto Pestana has a considerable German-Brazilian population. Every October the so-called Luther Festival takes place on the occasion of the German roots.
